Description
This is an old cast copper "CR" hump ingot made at the former White Pine copper mine at White Pine, Michigan.Copper Range owned the property.
These were made by pouring a small quantity of molten copper into one of the humps of a 3-hump mold used for casting the big industrial ingots.
It weighs 6.2 pounds and has a nice color; shown next to a half dollar; about 5-5/8 inches long, 3-1/4 inches wide and 1-3/8 inches thick.
Ingots were being poured up until 1982 when the mine began producing pure copper by the electrolytic process.
