    Description

    L.I. Cohen's Highlanders
    Poker and Faro Replica Deck
    Old West 1864
    Our Most Popular Deck
Exact Reproduction of 1864 Card Deck
As seen in many Western Movies
This is a new high quality boxed deck of cards that is a replica of the L.I. Cohen deck first printed in 1864 and used extensively during the Old West period. Don't get caught holding a "dead man's hand" with anything except these cards. Don't let the pocket of your waist coat (vest) go empty, shove in a deck of these "devil's tools" and become a sportin' man. This deck is completely accurate  in color and design: there are no indices (cheaters) on the corners, the face cards are full (the boys have feet) figures and the old printing press shifts and miss-strikes are there too. This deck is a fully playable deck of cards that will work in the dealing shoe for your Faro layout and can win your pards pay around the campfire.
This deck comes with two ace of spades: one is the original fancy card with eagle, stars and maker name, the other is a single spot to match the rest of the deck for easier play. This deck has squared corners like the original deck. There are no Jokers in this deck, jokers came along much later for the ladies parlor games. The box is a replica of the original box and even depicts the two 1¢ tax stamps that was required. Historical information is also included with this deck.
    FYI:
    the original "new"
decks from 150 years ago were not soft, floppy, cheap paper cards!
They were hard waxed and came out of the box almost as crisp and slick as these modern UV coated decks. The paper used was often a linen paper, higher in quality then the paper used today. The problem was
the old wax was not durable
, it yellowed and wore off quickly. That is one of the main reasons the gambling houses constantly opened new decks. Especially at the Faro tables where a dealing shoe was almost always used.
Nobody wanted floppy cards back then, if they could get their hands on new crisp decks, and nobody wants them now!
This sale is for 1 deck of playing cards.
